Public Notice: SUMP PUMP DISCHARGE REQUIREMENT
To All Residents and Business Owners,
To help protect our sanitary sewer system and prevent unnecessary overflows or treatment issues, all sump pumps must be discharged outside of the home or business and must NOT be connected to the sanitary sewer system in any way.
Effective immediately:
- Sump pumps discharge lines must be redirected outdoors (such as onto your lawn or a designated drainage area)
- Discharging into floor drains, sinks, or directly into the sewer system is prohibited.
Why is this important:
Excess water can overload the wastewater system, leading to backups, increased treatment costs, and potential environmental concerns.
What do you need to do:
- Inspect your sump pump. Note: The Ephraim Wastewater staff can assist!!
- If it is connected to the sanitary sewer in any way, have it redirected to an outdoor location as soon as possible.
Failure to comply may result in further action as required by local ordinances.
If you have any questions or need guidance, please contact the Village of Ephraim Wastewater Manager, Brad Rasmusson, at (920)854-4991
Thank you for your cooperation in protecting our community’s infrastructure.
