Dedication of the Village of Ephraim Liberty Tree
Join us for the Liberty Tree Dedication!
Come celebrate with us on Monday, July 27th at 5:45pm at Harborside Park! Just before the Evenings In Ephraim performance by Eddie Larsen’s nine-piece band, the Village of Ephraim is hosting a dedication ceremony for our newly planted Liberty Tree and Commemorative Plaque.

About the Village of Ephraim Liberty Tree
The National Liberty Tree program was developed to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence. The Liberty Tree (1646–1775) was a famous elm that stood in Boston near Boston Common. In 1765, colonists staged the first act of defiance against the British government at this tree. It became a rallying point for the growing resistance, and the ground surrounding it became known as Liberty Hall.
In 1775, the British felled the tree to quell these revolutionary gatherings. Today we plant new Liberty Trees to honor that legacy. A Princeton Elm, a disease-resistant hybrid of the American Elm, the species of the original historic Liberty Trees, was planted in June at Harborside Park to honor the 250th Anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
